The Grafenmühle is a nature reserve on the Großer Brombachsee in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia .
location
The Grafenmühle nature reserve is located on the south bank of the Great Brombach, about three kilometers northeast of Langlau and 2.2 kilometers northwest of Ramsberg near the Weißenberg .
description
The area is a designated nature reserve and has the cadastral number NSG500.060. It was named after the Grafenmühle , which disappeared with the construction of the Great Bromb axis. The nature reserve stretches for about 2.6 kilometers along the south bank of the Great Bromb axis, from the embankment of the Kleiner Bromb axis to Ramsberg.
With over 89 hectares , it is the largest of the nature reserves on Brombachsee. The majority of the area is taken up by the open water area and dry spruce and pine forests. The tree population shields the sensitive damp areas in the central part from disturbing influences. The western part is considered to be the most ecologically valuable. Several sources arise there.
Flora and fauna
Extensive reeds alternate with willow bushes and various individual trees. The dense reed bed houses the nurseries of frogs, toads and fish and offers protection for breeding birds. There is also a remote fen area with wet hollows and Seggenverlandung .
Access
The Brombachsee is easily accessible with a circular bike and footpath. This also leads directly along the southern border of the protected area and repeatedly offers insights into its habitats. Access to the protected area itself is not permitted. There are some information boards along the way. In early summer, a visit to the flowering wet vegetation is particularly worthwhile.
There are parking spaces, some of which are subject to a charge, at the sports boat harbor in Langlau and in Ramsberg. With the local public transport ( VGN ) you can travel daily with the Gunzenhausen - Pleinfeld train to the Ramsberg stop. From there it is a 45-minute walk.
Surroundings
At the Brombachsee there are also the nature reserves of the reservoir of Igelsbachsee , peninsula in the Kleiner Brombachsee , Brombachmoor and Sägmühle . The area offers numerous leisure activities such as sailing, surfing, swimming, cycling and hiking.
