This Is a Wasteland is a 2013 American documentary film directed by Dan Fusselman and produced by MotionArmy . The video recordings are from Josiah van Dien ( Southeast Asia and Australia ) and Dan Fusselman ( United States , United Kingdom and South America ). The photos were taken by Adam Elmakias. The DVD is only available in English.

This Is a Wasteland documents the development of the band Pierce the Veil during their world tour for their album Collide with the Sky . The film kicks off with the group performing in Southeast Asia , followed by Australia , the United States , the United Kingdom , Europe and South America .

A film montage will show festival appearances at the Soundwave Festival in Australia , at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in Germany and the Slam Dunk Festival in the United Kingdom, as well as concerts in Southeast Asia , the United States, Brazil , Chile , Mexico , Argentina and the UK. The film also gives a brief insight into the award ceremony at the Kerrang! Awards 2013 in London .

The documentary puts a greater focus on the hectic life of the musicians during the concert tour. There are also several interviews with the band's musicians.

This Is a Wasteland was never played in the cinema, but was released directly on DVD , which is only available with the new edition of the album Collide with the Sky . It was released in North America on November 11, 2013. The rest of the world was released two weeks later, on November 25, 2013.

For the DVD mainly pieces by the band Pierce the Veil from the albums Collide with the Sky and Selfish Machines were used, but pieces such as Whiskey with My Friends by Casey and the Cigs were also used.

The new edition of the album Collide with the Sky including the DVD sold around 30,000 times within the first week of sales, so that the album entered the official US charts again . There, the second pressing of the work landed at number 62. Due to the new edition, Collide with the Sky sold over 180,000 times. The DVD won the Revolver Golden Gods Awards for Best DVD / Video .
