The World Tour (with Sleeping with Sirens )
(2014-2015)

The Collide with the Sky World Tour was the first world tour by the US post-hardcore band Pierce the Veil . It was an amalgamation of several international concert tours by the band to promote their third studio album, Collide with the Sky . In total, the group played 226 shows on five continents. The tour started on June 16, 2012 in the United States and ended on December 8, 2013 in Helsinki , the capital of Finland .

Background and course of the tour

Pierce the Veil in Quezon City , Philippines

The concert tours, all on their own, were played to promote the band's third album, Collide with the Sky (released July 27, 2012 via Fearless Records ). The group played their first concert tour in the United States and Canada as part of the Warped Tour , when the band first appeared on the main stage ( Kia Rio Stage ). On King for a Day , Sleeping with Sirens frontman Kellin Quinn appeared on every show during the Warped Tour with Pierce the Veil. This concert tour included a total of 41 appearances.

The first headlining tour through the United Kingdom followed in September 2012 . This concert tour lasted almost two weeks and included eleven shows. Crown the Empire from the United States performed as supporting acts . In October Pierce the Veil played the Collide with the Sky Tour , which again led through the USA. The 32-gig tour was accompanied by Sleeping with Sirens (USA), Hands Like Houses (Australia) and Tonight Alive (Australia). This ended on November 23, 2012.

Pierce the Veil at Rock am Ring

In February 2013 Pierce the Veil played concerts in Southeast Asia for the first time . It was the band's first co-headlining tour with Sleeping with Sirens. The performances took place in Singapore , Malaysia , the Philippines , Thailand and Indonesia . The Southeast Asia tour ended on February 20, 2013. The concert in Singapore only came about because fans of the bands in the country started several online petitions, which prompted the organizers to schedule an additional show on February 15, 2013. Three days after the end of the tour in Southeast Asia, the musicians flew to Australia to take part in the Soundwave Festival . All five concerts at the festival were sold out. On March 14, 2013, the Street Youth Rising Tour started , which was accompanied by Memphis May Fire , Letlive and Issues . This concert tour comprised 16 shows and ended on April 4, 2013. One week after the end of the Street Youth Rising Tour , the musicians went on tour again. This was called the Spring Fever Tour and ran from April 11, 2013 to May 12, 2013. Pierce the Veil co-headlined this concert tour with All Time Low , which made 25 appearances. As a companion played Mayday Parade (USA) and You Me at Six (United Kingdom). The concert on May 3, 2013 in the Congress Theater in Chicago was sold out within a few hours, so on April 26, 2013 it was decided to move the concert to the much larger Sears Center .

On May 15, 2013 the group embarked on another headlining tour of the UK and Republic of Ireland . The 16-concert tour was accompanied by Woe, Is Me . This tour ended on June 5, 2013. As part of this tour, the band played for the first time at the Slam Dunk Festival . On June 8th and 9th 2013 Pierce the Veil played for the first time at Rock im Park and Rock am Ring . One month later the band's first Latin America tour followed , which included Brazil , Argentina , Chile and Mexico . Between August 11, 2013 and August 21, 2013 the musicians played a support tour with The Ghost Inside for A Day to Remember through Canada . The Right Back At It Again tour made six appearances. The group A Day to Remember, All Time Low, and then played The Wonder Years , the House Party Tour , which ran between 11 September 2013, 24 October, 2013. This tour included 27 concerts. During this tour, the band played two concerts as part of the Riot Fest in Chicago and Toronto , which, however, are not part of the tour. Between October 30, 2013 and December 8, 2013, the group played an extensive European tour with Sights and Sounds from Canada as the opening act for Bring Me the Horizon . The demand was so great in the UK that the organizer ( Marek Lieberberg ) scheduled three additional shows in London , Birmingham and Manchester . The last concert of the 33 concert tour took place in Helsinki , the capital of Finland .

4th March 2013 Perth, Australia Claremont Showgrounds Partly, canceled by the organizer during the set.

On March 4, 2013, the group had to cancel their set in Perth , Australia because of a political controversy between the government in Western Australia and the organizer of the Soundwave Festival . While Metallica (one of the headliners) was able to finish their entire set in front of 45,000 visitors, bands like The Offspring , The Amity Affliction and Pierce the Veil were forced to cancel and end their current set. This incident is documented on the tour documentary This Is a Wasteland , which was released on November 25, 2013 with a new edition of the album Collide with the Sky .

Commercial win

Jaime Preciado on November 9, 2013 in the E-Werk in Cologne .

The band's concerts, which are part of the Collide with the Sky world tour, were mostly well attended. The performances in Birmingham , London , Glasgow , Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Manchester (additional show), as well as the concerts in Cologne , Paris , Barcelona , Paris and Solothurn were all sold out. The demand in Birmingham, London and Manchester was so great that three additional concerts had to be scheduled. The performances at Rock im Park and Rock am Ring (both on the club stage ) were also watched by more than 1,000 visitors. Both festivals were sold out. In Australia , all five concerts that took place as part of the Soundwave Festival were also sold out. A total of 45,000 people attended the festival in Perth . However, the band had to cancel their set due to several disagreements between the promoter and the government of Western Australia .

The concerts of the Warped Tour were also well attended. The concert area sometimes held between 10,000 and 25,000 people. The concerts in Southeast Asia , at the Soundwave Festival, the Collide with the Sky Tour, the Spring Fever Tour, the UK Spring Tour, as well as the appearances at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park and in South America were accompanied by a camera team and edited into a tour documentary. This documentary reports on the touring life of the musicians away from the stage. The film is called This Is a Wasteland and was released on November 25, 2013 along with the new edition of the album Collide with the Sky .

The two concert tours through the United Kingdom were also largely sold out.

Curiosities and interesting facts

  • On the evening of May 15, 2013, bassist Jaime Preciado broke his foot. A concert in Portsmouth was to follow the next day . He completed the remaining shows in the UK with rail and assistant . A few weeks later, singer Vic Fuentes also injured his foot.
  • The musicians took part in the awards ceremony of the Kerrang! Awards because the band was nominated in four categories. They won the Best Video category for King for a Day .
  • Shortly after it was announced that the group would tour Southeast Asia, fans in Singapore were appalled that the tour would not take place in that country. Fans decided to start several online petitions to bring the tour to Singapore. In fact, due to the huge request on the Internet, the organizers scheduled a concert in Singapore. A few hours after it was announced that Singapore was being added to the tour schedule, the concert was completely sold out.
