background

The song Bulls in the Bronx was written for Olivia Penpraze, a female fan of the band. She has published on the platforms Youtube and Tumblr due to heavy cyberbullying a suicide note and hanged himself on March 29, 2012. A second song that commemorates Penpraze is Hold On Till May , which is also to Collide with the Sky is found .

"Bulls in the Bronx" has a crazy story to it. It's a sad story, but it inspired the song. It's about this girl who is 16, and her friends wrote to me and said she recently committed suicide, along with a link to her Tumblr page. It was one of the most haunting things I've ever seen. It's so sad because she was such a sweet-looking girl too. There were things on there where she would say how she thought she was worthless, ugly, and all this crazy stuff. That whole thing really stuck with me for a while, and I wrote this song about her. "

content

Bulls in the Bronx is written from a first person perspective . In the song, Vic Fuentes slips into the role of the protagonist who is planning his suicide because he does not see a personal perspective in life. In the lyrics, Fuentes has several things in common with a farewell letter from a fan who killed herself in March 2012.

In the song, for example, I'm sorry I can't see that you truly love me at the end of the second verse, which alludes to the girl's apology to her friends. The line And then I crawl back under the stairwell to a place I call my home at the beginning of the song that is supposed to allude to cyber bullying .

Music genre

Bulls in the Bronx is a typically structured rock song, but the group uses acoustic guitars and castanets in the place in front of the bridge . The musicians use these instruments because they want to bring their "Spanish roots" into their music. The singing of singer Vic Fuentes is mostly normal. He rarely uses screams in this piece .
