The Hörleinsgraben is a 3.5 kilometer long eastward flowing stream in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen , which flows into the Swabian Rezat from the left on the northern edge of Ellingen .
course
The brook arises in the field about 1.5 km west of the Ellingen district of Hörlbach and flows very steadily to the east from there. Initially a ditch next to a dirt road in sections, it passes Hörlbach in the south. On the left of the connecting road to Massenbach, it is dammed up to form a 0.6 hectare pond. It also flows parallel to the road from Hörlbach to Ellingen and feeds a few smaller ponds there. On the northern edge of Ellingen it crosses the Treuchtlingen – Nuremberg railway line , then Bundesstraße 2 and shortly afterwards flows into the Swabian Rezat from the left and west next to the town's sewage treatment plant.
Catchment area
The catchment area is a wedge running from west to east with an area of about 4.2 km². It is a largely open, moderately hilly meadow landscape in which arable farming dominates, with a few small wooded areas. The population density is low. In the north it borders the catchment area of the Vorderen Troppelgraben , in the northeast that of the Walkershöfer Weihergraben . To the south the Riedgraben competes and in the far southwest briefly the Mittelbühlgraben , all of them left-hand Rezat tributaries. Beyond the western watershed, the Störzelbach runs south to the Altmühl . The highest point in the catchment area is around 492 m above sea level. NN at the northwest tip near the road from Tiefenbach to Stopfenheim .
