The stone slab is a 577.3  m above sea level. NHN high, wooded mountain of the Weißenburger Alb low mountain range , a ridge of the Franconian Alb , in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen .

The wooded stone slab rises in the midst of the Weißenburg city forest southeast of the Weißenburg core city , south of Oberhochstatt , northeast of Suffersheim and north of Laubenthal . The federal highway 13 passes to the south . In the east, the mountain falls into the Laubental . Parts of the mountain have been removed for a quarry to mine the Treuchtlingen marble . The mountain is situated in the Altmühltal nature park in a conservation area .
