Wilfred Oanda Kirochi

Wilfred Oanda Kirochi (born December 12, 1969 ) is a former Kenyan middle-distance and cross-country runner .

At the Junior World Championships in Athletics, he won the 1500-meter title in Athens in 1986 and in Sudbury in 1988 . He also won the junior race at the World Cross Country Championships in Warsaw in 1987 and in Auckland in 1988 .

Kirochi soon established itself in the adult sector. As early as 1987 he was second over 1500 m at the Africa Games in Nairobi. In 1989 he finished third in the endurance race at the World Cross Country Championships in Stavanger . At the Commonwealth Games in Auckland in 1990 , he won the silver medal in the 1,500 meter run. He celebrated his most important and last major international success at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in 1991 . There he won the silver medal over 1500 m behind Noureddine Morceli and in front of Hauke ​​Fuhlbrügge . Meanwhile, Kirochi missed qualifying for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona at the Kenyan Championships the following year .
