Wilfried Boettcher

Wilfried Boettcher (actually: Wilfried Karl Bernhard Böttcher) (born November 11, 1929 in Bremen ; † August 22, 1994 in Saint-Siffret , Languedoc-Roussillon , southern France) was a German cellist and conductor .

Live and act

Wilfried Böttcher was trained as a cellist at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater and as a conductor with Hans Swarowsky in Vienna . He then worked as a solo cellist in Hanover from 1956 to 1958. In 1959 he founded the Chamber Orchestra of Vienna Soloists, which mainly focuses on the music of the 18th Century (debut at the Salzburg Festival 1959). From 1965 to 1974 he held a teaching position at the Hamburg University of Music . From 1967 to 1971 he was chief conductor of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra . He worked as a conductor in Hamburg, Berlin, Vienna, England and France.

He has made several recordings on record or CD, such as (as a conductor) for example Joseph Haydn Symphonies 6 , 7 and 8 , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Piano Concerts 17 and 24 , Mozart Serenades 6 and 9, Johann Sebastian Bach Musical Offering , and as a cellist for example Mozart piano concertos 19 and 20 (with Alfred Brendel ), Ludwig van Beethoven piano concertos 1 - 5 (with Alfred Brendel).
