Wilfried Bottke

Wilfried Bottke (born January 23, 1947 in Göttingen ; † August 8, 2010 ) was a German lawyer .

Life

Between 1966 and 1970, Bottke studied law at the University of Munich . After the two state examinations in law in 1970 and 1973, he worked as a research assistant at the chair for all criminal law studies at the University of Munich. In 1978 he was there with the thesis Criminal Scientific methods and systems in the doctrine of the amnesty and mitigating offender behavior for Dr. iur. doctorate and habilitation in 1982 with the text Suizid und Criminalrecht .

After substitute professorships in Gießen (1981/82), Passau (1982/83), Munich (1983) and Mannheim (1983/84), he was appointed to the chair for criminal law and criminology at the University of Mannheim in 1984. In 1985 he accepted a professorship for criminal law and criminology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . From 1986 until his death he was full professor for criminal law, criminal procedure law and criminology at the law faculty of the University of Augsburg . At the university he was Vice President from 1995 to 1999 and as Rector from 1999 to 2007. In 2007 he took over the office of President of the University of Augsburg.

In 2008 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
