Wilfried Holzapfel

Wilfried Bernd Holzapfel (* 17th February 1938 in Magdeburg ) is a German physicist and emeritus professor .

education

Wilfried Holzapfel studied theoretical physics in Karlsruhe . In 1964 he received his diploma and in 1966 the Dr. rer. nat. in experimental physics .

Career

From 1966 to 1967 he was a research assistant in Karlsruhe, from 1967 to 1969 at the University of Illinois in Urbana and from 1969 to 1971 at the Technical University of Munich . From 1971 to 1978 he headed the high pressure laboratory at the Max Planck Institute in Stuttgart . In 1978 he became a professor for experimental physics at the University of Paderborn . From 1979 to 1981 he was chairman of the European high pressure research group . In 1991 he was a member, chairman and board member of HASYLAB in Hamburg . From 1982 to 2009 he was visiting professor at UCLA , the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory , the University of Bordeaux , the European Laboratory of Non-linear Spectroscopy (LENS) in Florence and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas .
