Wilfried Müller (social scientist)
Wilfried Müller (born October 4, 1945 in Tönning , Schleswig-Holstein ) is a German educational and social scientist. From 2002 to 2012 he was rector of the University of Bremen .
biography
After graduating from high school in Delmenhorst , Müller studied chemistry from 1965 to 1971 at the University of Kiel, as well as philosophy. After graduating in chemistry in 1971, he continued studying philosophy and also began studying educational sciences and sociology at the University of Hamburg . In 1974 the University of Hamburg received his doctorate as Dr. phil. with the dissertation Education and profession of natural scientists and engineers .
In 1976 he became assistant professor at the University of Bremen and in 1979 professor for the field of social science technology research . In 1996 he was elected spokesman for an organizational development group. In 1997 he was elected deputy principal. In 2002 he was elected Rector of the University of Bremen to succeed Jürgen Timm . He held this office until the end of August 2012; Bernd Scholz-Reiter was elected as his successor . Müller led the university to become an elite university . During his time as rector, the University of Bremen was accepted three times by the excellence initiative of the federal and state governments in the promotional programs.
He was Vice President for Teaching, Studies and Student Affairs at the German Rectors' Conference (HRK).
In May 2009, Müller was elected deputy chairman of the political decision-making body of the foundation for the accreditation of study programs in Germany.
Müller was married to the social scientist and university professor Helga Krüger ; both have two children. Müller has been married again since April 2012.
Müller is the topic sponsor of the topic group "Change Management & Organizational Development" at the University Forum Digitization initiated in 2014 by the Center for University Development, University Rectors ' Conference and Donors' Association , which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research .
