Wilfried Yeguete (born October 16, 1991 in Pessac ) is a French basketball player of Central African  descent.

career

Yeguete was born in France to parents from the Central African Republic . When Wilfried was a toddler, he moved with his family to Abidjan ( Ivory Coast ) and returned to France at the age of ten. His father Lucien was a Central African national basketball player in the 1980s.

Yeguete played as a teenager in Meaux and Epinal , in 2008 he went to the United States , only attended the Florida Air Academy for two years and was part of the basketball team there as well as at the University of Florida from 2010 to 2014 . For the university team, he was on the field in 127 games and averaged 4.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per encounter. During his four years at the University of Florida, Bradley Beal and Chandler Parsons were among his teammates. In his last season at college, he reached the NCAA semi-finals with the team . In 2014 Yeguete returned to France and signed his first contract as a professional basketball player with the first division club STB Le Havre .

In his second professional year (2015/16) as a member of Élan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez , he made the leap to become a regular in the French first division and recorded an average of 8.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per encounter in 34 main round appearances. In June 2016, Yeguete was signed by Le Mans Sarthe Basket and signed a three-year contract with the first division club. In the 2017/18 season he won the French championship title with Le Mans. Following the 2018/19 season, in which he achieved averages of 9 points and 7.6 rebounds, he left Le Mans in the direction of league rivals AS Monaco .

National team

In 2011 he won the bronze medal at the European Championships with France's U20 selection, in summer 2015 he took part with the French team at the Summer Universiade in Gwangju , Korea , and came in fifth.
