Wilhelm Bracke Medal
The Wilhelm Bracke Medal was donated on May 29, 1967, on the occasion of the 125th birthday of the politician, publisher and publicist Wilhelm Bracke (1842–1880), by the German Booksellers Association in Leipzig and from 1968 to 1989 in the GDR for “ exemplary achievements in the service of the book ”.
The medal was awarded in bronze, silver and gold and included a pin. The medal could be awarded to individuals as well as to collectives of institutions. It was awarded very often.
