Wilhelm Ashoff (entrepreneur, 1857)

Wilhelm Ashoff (born July 31, 1857 in Altena ; † July 13, 1929 there ) was a German entrepreneur.

Live and act

He attended secondary school in Altena and obtained primary school in Siegen . After completing his commercial apprenticeship, he joined Basse & Selve in 1874 , which was founded in 1861.

He worked in this company for 53 years and rose to become authorized signatory , director and general manager. After the company became Selve AG in 1921 and became Berg-Heckmann-Selve AG in 1927, he resigned from the Management Board in 1927 and moved to the Supervisory Board in 1928 as the first deputy chairman. Since 1899 he had been a general representative in the company.

He distinguished himself by promoting community work in the brass , copper, nickel and aluminum industries and was a member of the boards of various associations. He also supported the Kaiser Wilhelm Society . He participated in the settlement of conflicts of interest with the workers.

Since 1904 Ashoff was a member of the DDP and sat in the district council and in the magistrate of the city of Altena. In 1919 he ran for the Prussian constitutional assembly , but was not elected.

  • Member of the board of directors of the copper sheet syndicate in Kassel
  • Member of the Board of Directors of the Copper Pipe Association in Cologne
  • Member of the board of the German Copper Wire Association
  • Member of the Board of the Aluminum Rolling Mills Association
