Wilhelm Brockpähler

Wilhelm Hermann Brockpähler (born February 11, 1894 in Dorsten ; † January 21, 1980 in Münster ) was a German teacher, author and local researcher.

Life

Wilhelm Brockpähler attended the preparandy and the teachers' seminar in Wolstein / Posen and initially taught in Bleichfelde near Bromberg . He then moved to Hörde until he was called up for military service during the First World War. After his release from prisoner-of-war, he resumed teaching in Hörde and finally moved to Hettstedt in the Harz region .

In 1936 he had to give up school service for health reasons. Brockpähler moved to Münster and joined the management of the Westphalian Homeland Federation . He later took over its chairmanship.

Wilhelm Brockpähler was married. Daughter Renate Brockpähler was director of the Westphalian folk song archive in Münster; his son Wolfgang Brockpähler was a writer.
