Renate Brockpähler

Renate Brockpähler (March 9, 1927 - November 23, 1989 ) was a German folklorist .

Renate Brockpähler was the daughter of the writer and local researcher Wilhelm Brockpähler and the older sister of the writer Wolfgang Brockpähler . She was in the Reich Labor Service from 1944 and in the Gorspen-Vahlsen camp until March 1945 , where she learned about the importance of singing.

In 1959 she was with a thesis on the history of Baroque opera in Germany at the University of Münster Dr. phil. PhD . She was a member of the Folklore Commission for Westphalia and head of the Westphalian Folk Song Archive in Münster . Renate Brockpähler published several articles in the Rheinisch-Westfälische Zeitschrift für Volkskunde .

She worked with Dietmar Sauermann on a prisoner of war project, during which she died.
