Wilhelm Cohn

Wilhelm Cohn (born February 6, 1859 in Berlin , † August 17, 1913 in Charlottenburg ) was a German chess master .

Cohn was a professional player and participated in a variety of major tournaments . He achieved his best result at the 11th DSB Congress of the German Chess Federation in Cologne in 1898, where he shared second place behind Amos Burn with Rudolf Charousek and Michail Tschigorin . A year later he took part in the big tournament in London and shared 10th and 11th place with ex-world champion Wilhelm Steinitz . In 1900 in Munich he was sixth and in 1902 in Hanover he landed in the back field, but he beat the world-class player Harry Nelson Pillsbury . In 1905 he was third in Barmen's B tournament .

He played two competitions, both of which he lost: 1894 in Berlin against Carl August Walbrodt with 0: 5 and in 1910, also in Berlin against Ehrhardt Post with 4.5: 7.5 (+3 = 3-6).

His highest historical rating was 2645, which he reached in November 1898.
