Wilhelm Delfs
Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich Delfs (born January 9, 1885 in Basthorst ; † December 31, 1958 in Detmold ) was a German architect and town planner .
Life
Wilhelm Delfs studied architecture at the TH in Karlsruhe . He later obtained a doctorate in engineering. and worked in Düsseldorf and Lübeck . In 1921 Delfs became the municipal building officer in Krefeld. The following year he moved to Dortmund and in March 1923 was hired as a magistrate's building officer for life. On April 20, 1925 he was elected to the city council. He was a member of the German National People's Party (DNVP). As a city councilor, he was initially responsible for building construction and, from the end of 1927, as successor to Hans Strobel, also for city expansion. Among other things, he was responsible for the construction of the Westfalenhalle . From 1931 to 1937 he was responsible for all technical offices. He then retired, but served again as a paid department head from 1945 to 1952 .
