Friedrich Wilhelm Johannes Erbt (born February 23, 1876 in Berlin ; died March 15, 1944 in Bad Nauheim ) was a German theologian , headmaster and anti-Semitic author .

Life

Inherits studied from 1896 Protestant Theology at the University of Halle , then at the University of Greifswald , where he in 1900 to Dr. phil. received his doctorate. He was awarded Dr. theol. PhD and ordained in the same year . After a short activity as a pastor near Bromberg , he became a teacher, first in Poznan , from 1911 at the Klaus Groth School in Neumünster , where he later rose to become director. For the DNVP he sat on the city council. In 1937 he retired.

Erbt first emerged as a biblical scholar and published widely published school books on churches and the history of religion. In the 1920s he was one of the most influential authors who disseminated a racist view of history and advocated the “Germanization of Christianity”. As early as 1921 he published an anti-Semitic pamphlet, which he referred to in a late article in the journal Volk im Werden .
