Wilhelm Ferdinand Stengel

Wilhelm Ferdinand Stengel (* 1796 in Christgrün ; † June 17, 1870 in Leipzig ) was the Royal Saxon Councilor, City Councilor and Police Director of Leipzig, and in 1860 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Leipzig.

Wilhelm Ferdinand stem studied from 1817 to 1821 at the University of Leipzig Jura . In 1818 he was a co-founder of the old Leipzig fraternity . He is listed for the first time in the 1832 address book under the college of the security authorities of the city of Leipzig, with the note " Conductor ". He was commissioned at the council meeting on August 23, 1831, as the successor to Streubel City Council. He left in 1860.

Stengel was granted citizenship on April 2, 1831 and was a paid city councilor from April 5 to August 28, 1831 and as elected police director and paid city council from August 30, 1831. In the 1840 address book, as in the following years, he is referred to as "City Councilor and Knight". He remained a paid city councilor until his resignation on July 15, 1860. Stengel was a member of "Harmonie" and an honorary member of the Sparkassenverein from 1847.

From December 21, 1844, he held the title of "Police Director" as a director of the Police Office. So it reads in the address book for the year 1845:

"Police Director Mr. Wilhelm Ferdinand Stengel, knight of the royal Saxon civil merit order and the royal. prussia. Order of the red eagle, also city councilor. Petersstrasse 41 "

On August 15, 1860, the city of Leipzig recognized Wilhelm Ferdinand Stengel as an honorary citizen because of his services as a member of the council.
