Wilhelm Göck
Wilhelm Göck (born February 12, 1898 in Schwelm , Westphalia ; † October 20, 1944 in Fontana Liri , Italy ) was an SS-Standartenführer , SS-Obersturmbannführer of the reserve of the Waffen-SS and camp commandant of the Warsaw and Kauen concentration camps .
Life
Göck dropped out of school after the outbreak of World War I and volunteered for the military at the age of 16. With the rank of lieutenant , he experienced the end of the war and in 1919 joined the nationalist Freikorps Lützow.
Göck was a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 335.455) and from 1931 the SS (SS number 21.529). From April 1933 he was deployed in a leading position with various SS standards.
Wilhelm Göck was head of the Narvik labor camp in Norway from June 1942 and head of a camp in Mauthausen from July 1942 . From July 1943 he acted as camp commandant of the Warsaw concentration camp and from September 1943, also as camp commandant, in the Kauen concentration camp in Lithuania . Göck held this position until June 1944. After that he was subordinated to the Higher SS and Police Leader (HSSPF) in the " Adriatic Coastal Operation Zone " Odilo Globocnik and killed in October 1944 while working against partisans .
According to witnesses, Gocken was involved in the shooting of Jews.
