Wilhelm Haarmann (born January 9, 1912 in Letmathe , today Iserlohn district ; † July 13, 1990 in Iserlohn) was a German local politician and honorary district administrator of the former Iserlohn district ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending school, he completed a commercial apprenticeship and worked as a self-employed businessman .

He was married and had four children.

MP

He was a member of the district council of the former Iserlohn district from 1956 until the regional reform on December 31, 1974. He was a member of the district council of the Märkisches Kreis from 1975 to 1989.

From 1964 to 1969 and from 1975 to 1979 he was a member of the landscape assembly of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe .

Public offices

Haarmann was district administrator of the Iserlohn district from November 28, 1969 to December 31, 1974 . He was mayor of the former city of Letmathe for 16 years until 1974 .

Haarmann was active in various committees of the district council of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Others

In 1969 Haarmann was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon. He also received u. a. the ring of honor of the district of Iserlohn, the cup of honor of the Märkisches Kreis and the medal of the former town of Letmathe. In Iserlohn- Stübbeken , Willy-Haarmann-Platz was named after him.

In addition to his self-employed activity as a businessman, Haarmann was a Low German author . He created numerous Low German poems, short stories and long-playing records.
