Wilhelm Haupt (born September 13, 1869 in Hanover , † May 20, 1950 in Magdeburg ) was a shoemaker, editor and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Haupt attended the citizens' school in Hanover from 1875 to 1883 and the trade school in Hanover until 1886. He learned the shoemaker's trade in Hanover from 1883 to 1887 and worked there as a journeyman until 1889. In 1889 and 1890 he wandered and from that time until 1899 he worked as a shoemaker's journeyman in Magdeburg. Then he became editor of the Volksstimme in Magdeburg (until 1901) and since that time a travel agent on the same paper. As an editor, he was repeatedly sentenced to fines and imprisonment, including a higher sentence on the grounds that his predecessors as editors had a significant criminal record. From 1900 he was a city councilor in Magdeburg, he remained so until 1919 and was then a paid city councilor and department head for unemployed welfare until 1933.

From 1912 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency administrative district Magdeburg 3 Jerichow I , Jerichow II and the SPD . His mandate was declared invalid on December 2, 1913.
