Wilhelm Heinrich Meyer

Wilhelm Heinrich Meyer (born May 11, 1834 in Greifswald , † June 29, 1896 in Stettin ) was a German businessman . He also worked as a city ​​councilor and published on the past and present of Szczecin.

Life

Wilhelm Heinrich Meyer was born the son of a grocer in Greifswald . He worked as a merchant in Stettin , in 1864 he became a member of the Stettin Merchants' Corporation .

In 1868 Meyer married Marie Hessenland , a daughter of the Stettin print shop owner and publisher Franz Hessenland, who died in 1866 . Since then Meyer has worked for the F. Hessenland publishing and printing business, of which his wife was co-owner. He was also a member of the supervisory board of several stock corporations. After the death of his wife in 1894, the share in the company F. Hessenland passed to him.

Meyer was an unpaid councilor for the city of Szczecin. He was also interested in the history of Pomerania , especially the history of the city of Szczecin . He was a board member of the Society for Pomeranian History and Archeology and Treasurer of the Pomeranian Art Association . He published on the past and present of Szczecin.

After his death, his son Franz Joachim Meyer (* 1880; † 1925) joined the F. Hessenland company as a co-owner .
