Wilhelm Holzhäuer

Wilhelm Holzhäuer (born May 24, 1894 in Häfnerhaslach , † April 4, 1963 in Nuremberg ) was a German entrepreneur.

Career

Holzhäuer comes from Häfnerhaslach in Württemberg. In 1936 he took over the paper mill in the Elsenthal settlement (Lower Bavaria; today part of Grafenau ) and started producing wood fiber insulation panels there the following year . From small beginnings with around 40 employees, in 1940 he founded the company ATEX-Werke Wilhelm Holzhäuer GmbH & Co KG (previously ATEX Holzfaserplattenfabrik GmbH ), which in the following years continuously developed into a world-famous wood fiber board manufacturer with around 650 employees. It ceased production in 2002.

He offered his workforce social facilities, including their own factory housing estate. He supported charitable causes with regular donations.
