Wilhelm Johann Pollak (born June 9, 1802 in Vienna ; † February 5, 1860 there ) was an Austrian landscape painter .

Born the son of a pharmacist, Pollak was the brother-in-law of the painters Friedrich Gauermann and Joseph Höger . Following her example, Pollak began to paint as a self-taught artist .

As early as 1826 he took part in an exhibition of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the Sankt Annahof .

In the period 1826/1827 he studied history and drawing classes at the Vienna Academy. After graduating, he worked as a freelance landscape painter in Vienna. Sometimes Gauermann helped with the staffage in Pollak's landscape paintings.

On study trips he visited Lower Austria , Styria , the Salzkammergut and Italy .

From 1833 to 1846 he lived in Lundenburg , where he also worked as a pharmacist , from 1849 to 1850 in Krems an der Donau , and spent the last years of his life in Vienna.

From 1840 to 1859 Pollak exhibited at the Vienna Academy of St. Anna, from 1850 to 1854 also at the Künstlerhaus Vienna .
