Wilhelm Karl Stoltz

Wilhelm Karl Stoltz (born December 7, 1817 in Luxembourg ; † July 31, 1886 in Saarbrücken ) was Prussian major general and most recently inspector of the 4th engineering inspection.

Life

origin

Alexander was a son of the Prussian captain Johann Christian Stoltz (1770-1851) and his wife Eleonore Dorothea, née Siebert (1781-1823). His brother Johann Christian Alexander (1810-1897) also became a general.

Career

He joined the 1st Reserve Engineer Battalion on October 1, 1834, as a one-year volunteer . From October 1, 1835 to September 30, 1838, it was then assigned as the United Artillery and Engineering School . During that time he was appointed Portepeefähnrich in the 8th Engineer Department on September 23, 1836, and on October 6, 1837 as Seconde Lieutenant and at the same time aggregated to the 3rd Engineer Inspection . On October 1, 1838, he was transferred to the Reserve Pioneer Company in Luxembourg and posted there on December 30, 1841. On March 2, 1842, he was transferred to the fortress of Cologne for fortification services. He came to the 7th Engineer Department on April 20, 1847 and back to the Reserve Engineer Company in Luxembourg on September 1, 1848. Promoted to Premier-Lieutenant on April 24, 1849, he came on November 1, 1850 as commander in the 3rd mobile company of the 7th engineer division. On February 1, 1851, he was brought back to Fortification Cologne for fortification services , and on March 31, 1851 he was transferred to Fortification Luxembourg for fortification services. He was promoted to captain on June 22, 1852 and transferred to the 4th Engineer Division on December 2, 1852, where he was commander of the 2nd Company. On March 20, 1856, he came to the fortress of Mainz for fortification services , from where he was transferred to the Saarlouis fortress on May 4, 1858 as an engineer officer . On August 25, 1861, he was appointed major as commander of the 6th Pioneer Battalion and on January 13, 1864 as director of genius in Luxembourg. There he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Luxembourg oak crown on March 6, 1866 and promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 8, 1866. But on August 19, 1867, he returned to the Koblenz Fortress for fortification services . He was then transferred to the Neisse fortress on October 17, 1867 as an engineer officer . On January 14, 1867 he was awarded the Inspector of the 8th Fortress Inspection and on January 19, 1868 with the Crown Order of the 3rd Class . He was also promoted to colonel on March 22, 1868. He received the Order of the Red Eagle III on August 29, 1871 . Class with a ribbon, then on September 3, 1872 he was appointed deputy inspector of the 4th engineering inspection. On March 22, 1873 he was given the character of major general and on April 12, 1873 his patent dated March 22, 1873, at the same time he was appointed inspector of the 4th engineering inspection. On December 12, 1874 his resignation was given to pension under award of the Red Eagle II. Class with oak leaves, on 11 March 1875 he was then with board for discussion found and died on 31 July 1886 in Saarbrücken.

He married on November 24, 1868 in Schleswig Maria Susanne Henriette Berta Omtor (* February 18, 1845 - November 2, 1874), a daughter of the businessman Franz Omtor.
