Wilhelm Kentmann

Wilhelm Eugen Leonhard Kentmann (born July 11, 1861 in Jegelecht (Estonia), † May 20, 1938 in Tallinn ) was a Baltic German clergyman.

Life

Wilhelm Kentmann came from a German-Baltic pastor dynasty and was the son of Woldemar Friedrich Kentmann (1833–1901), pastor in Kusal and provost of East Harrien , and his wife Amalie, née. Grohmann.

He studied theology at the Imperial University of Dorpat . In 1885 he completed his probationary year with his father in Kusal. In 1886 he became pastor in Goldenbeck (Estonia ), in 1896 provost of the Landwiek . From 1900 onwards he was senior consistorial advisor in the Evangelical Lutheran General Consistory in St. Petersburg . In 1902 he took over a pastor's office at the St. Petri Church there . In 1918 he became general superintendent in Estonia and at the same time senior pastor at Tallinn Cathedral . From 1920 he worked as a senior pastor at the German St. Nikolai Church in Pärnu . In 1934 he retired and moved back to Tallinn.
