Wilhelm Lützow

Wilhelm "Willy" Lützow (born May 19, 1892 in Esslingen am Neckar , † 1916 ) was a German swimmer .

Wilhelm Lützow started for the Magdeburg swimming club from 1896 . At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912, Lützow competed on the 200-meter chest course and on the 400-meter chest course. In the preliminary and intermediate runs from July 7th, the same five swimmers qualified for the finals on July 12th: the Swede Thor Henning , the British Percy Courtman and the three Germans Walter Bathe , Wilhelm Lützow and Kurt Malisch . Bathe won gold over 200 meters ahead of Lützow and Malisch; Bathe won over 400 meters in front of world record holders Henning and Courtman, Lützow did not finish this race.

Wilhelm Lützow fell in the First World War .

He was a member of the Ghibellinia fraternity in Stuttgart.
