Wilhelm Ludwig Gottlob Freiherr von Eberstein (born November 10, 1762 in Morungen ; † February 4, 1805 there ) was a German writer and philosopher .

origin

His parents were Friedrich Ludwig Wilhelm von Eberstein (* July 21, 1736; † December 24, 1800) and his wife Frederike Karoline Eleonore von Bültzingslöwen († December 2, 1813).

Life

Wilhelm Ludwig Gottlob Freiherr von Eberstein was born on November 10, 1762 on the Morungen family estate near Sangerhausen . A copper mine belonging to the family awakened an interest in geology in von Eberstein , which was expanded by studying mining in Freiberg . An uncle who held the post of chief miner in Trebra imparted practical knowledge . Due to a weak constitution, von Eberstein soon withdrew to the Mohrungen family estate near Sangerhausen and dealt exclusively with philosophy. In his philosophical writings he orientated himself on Johann August Eberhard . His main work was the "attempt at a logic of the history and metaphysics of the German up to the present time" which was edited by Johann August Eberhard 1794 to 1799 in two parts. On November 30th, 1800 Wilhelm Ludwig Gottlob von Eberstein married Sophie Friederike Charlotte Louise von Trotha († 1821), the daughter of Friedrich Gottlob von Trotha auf Schkopau, at Schkopau Castle near Merseburg . On February 4, 1805 von Eberstein died on the Mohrungen family estate near Sangerhausen.
