Wilhelm Räderscheidt

Wilhelm Räderscheidt (born August 8, 1865 in Cologne ; † July 6, 1926 there ) was a Cologne dialect poet .

He worked as a primary and secondary school teacher and later as director of the Cologne commercial school. Wilhelm Räderscheidt was temporarily a member of the Cologne city council and since 1913 honorary member of the Heimatverein Alt-Köln .

He published early song texts for the Cologne Carnival under the pseudonym Willy Köhne . Since 1912 he wrote Cologne texts for the magazine Jung-Köln under the pseudonym Ohm Will . From 1915 to 1917 he regularly published mood pictures in verse and prose in the Kölnische Zeitung , which appeared in book form from 1916 under the title Köllen en Kreegszigge .

In 1912 Räderscheidt won first prize at the Cologne Flower Games for his poem The Bone of Remembrance and in 1914 won the Johannes Fastenrath Prize for Der missroode Son .

Wilhelm Räderscheidt wrote plays for the Hänneschen Theater in Cologne as well as prose and poetry . The carnival song De Geiß wollt 'ne long Stätz han was written by him. In 1925 a collection of his poems was published under the title "Ohm Will".

Wilhelm Räderscheidt was married to Elisabeth Beckmann (1868–1922) , together they had three daughters (Sophia Anna Maria (1888–1975) , Katharina (1899–1939) and Wilhelmine (1900–52) ) and four sons (Wilhelm (1889– 1978) , Ferdinand (1897–1917) , Hugo (* 1908) and the painter Anton Räderscheidt (1892–1970) ).
