Wilhelm Smiths

Wilhelm Smiths (born October 4, 1847 in Meyerich , † October 22, 1925 in Meyerich) was an honorary officer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Smiths attended grammar school in Soest and was a landowner on Meyerich's house near Welver . In 1866 he joined the 1st Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 13 in Münster and was promoted to portepee ensign in 1867 and to second lieutenant in 1868. In 1873 he resigned and joined the regiment's reserve officers. On August 26, 1873, he was appointed honorary officer in the Schwefe office in the Soest district. In 1876 he was made Premier Lieutenant and in 1884 Captain of the Landwehr. In 1899 he initiated the establishment of the voluntary fire brigade association Meyerich.

From 1887 to 1890 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Arnsberg 7 Hamm , Soest and the National Liberal Party .
