Wilhelm Willemer (General)

Wilhelm Willemer-Brösen (born January 13, 1905 , † January 27, 1967 ) was a German officer, most recently a brigadier general in the Bundeswehr .

Willemer began his military career in Infantry Regiment I. After various assignments, he took part in the 1st General Staff course in Dresden in 1940. In World War II he was u. a. Third (Ic) and Second General Staff Officer (Ib) of the 87th Infantry Division , First General Staff Officer (Ia) of the 15th Infantry Division and Chief of the General Staff of the XVII. Army Corps of the Wehrmacht . He was awarded the German Cross in Gold. The Colonel i. G. ended up in British captivity .

Willemer worked for the US-American Operational History (German) Section after 1945 : From 1951 to 1955 he was a member of the Control Group and the circle of authors around Franz Halder . He also belonged to the Working Group for Defense Research (AfW).

In 1956 he was accepted into the army of the Bundeswehr. From 1957 to 1959 he was commander of the Army Officer School II in Husum (or from 1958 in Hamburg). From 1959 to 1964 he was head of the army department at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. In 1965 the brigadier general (from 1964) retired.
