Horst Scheuermann

Horst Scheuermann (born September 1, 1921 in Lübeck ; † September 3, 2010 in Hamburg ) was a German officer , most recently a brigadier general in the Bundeswehr .

Life

Scheuermann graduated from high school in 1939, then joined the Wehrmacht on February 1, 1939 and was trained as an infantryman (infantry replacement battalion 65). The war was deployed in Belgium and France. In 1941 he was promoted to lieutenant and served at the Potsdam War School. From May 1941 to May 1943 the war deployment followed in Romania , Russia and Tunisia , u. a. as an infantry platoon leader. From 1943 to 1946 Oberleutnant Scheuermann was in American captivity. From March to June 1946 there was a duty in the Ruhr mining industry as a gift tractor.

After participating in the war and imprisonment as well as the brief interim engagement, he worked as a sales representative in Hamburg from 1949 to 1957 , until he joined the Bundeswehr. In 1957 he became S1 in combat group staff C1 in Langendamm. In this role he was promoted to captain. 1959 to 1961 he was S 1 and later company commander in Panzergrenadierbrigade 7 from Fischbek (1960–1961). This was followed by two years at the Management Academy in Blankenese as a course participant (April 1961 to September 1963) and promotion to a major. 1963 to 1971 employment as assistant in the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) and G1 in the III. Corps , now as a colonel.

On October 1, 1971, Scheuermann took over command of the Army Officer School II in Hamburg-Wandsbek , which he held until 1974. In this position he was promoted to Brigadier General on December 8, 1971. From 1974 to 1977 he commanded the 19 Panzer Grenadier Brigade in Ahlen / Westphalia. Horst Scheuerman was last employed as Head of Staff Division I in the command staff of the Army .

Scheuermann was an avid water sports enthusiast and enjoyed going on long hikes and bike tours.
