Wilhelm Zaeringer (born August 15, 1873 in Weinheim , † June 8, 1942 in Nordhausen ) was a German engineer and manager of the shaft construction industry.

Life

Wilhelm Zaeringer, son of a secret senior church councilor in Karlsruhe, studied engineering at the technical universities of Karlsruhe and Stuttgart . In Karlsruhe he became a member of the Corps Saxonia . After completing his studies, he took positions in various domestic and foreign machine factories. Here he concentrated on deep drilling and the manufacture of drilling equipment. Later he turned to the construction of complete shaft systems. In 1899 he became director of the Hanoverian Tiefbohrgesellschaft , which specialized in potash mining in the construction of freezing shafts . After the takeover by Tiefbau- und Kälteindustrie AG, formerly Gebhardt & König, in Nordhausen, he was appointed to the board of this company in 1905. After the death of the company's founder, Louis Gebhardt, he was CEO of the company until his death, which merged with Deutsche Schachtbau AG in 1939 to form Gebhardt & Koenig - Deutsche Schachtbau AG .

Under the leadership of Zaeringer, the company built more than one hundred freezing shafts in the European hard coal and potash mining industry. Early on he founded subsidiaries in England, France and Belgium, which operated in the period before the First World War . He also founded the subsidiary Maschinen- und Apparatebau AG in Nordhausen in 1923 and became its chairman of the supervisory board.
