Wilhelm von Heemskerck

Wilhelm Christian Adolph von Heemskerck (born August 22, 1804 in Dillenburg , † December 18, 1883 in Wiesbaden ) was a German civil servant and politician .

Life

As the son of a former Dutch cavalry master , Heemskerck attended the pedagogy in Dillenburg and the grammar school Philippinum Weilburg . He studied law at the Hessian Ludwig University . In 1826 he was one of the founders of the Corps Vandalia Giessen. He moved to the Georg August University and was also active in the Corps Nassovia Göttingen in 1829. After completing his studies, he worked for the government of the Duchy of Nassau from 1829 . In 1836 he married Auguste geb. Haas (1814–1885), the daughter of the Dillenburg entrepreneur Johann Daniel Haas . By 1867 he went through the civil service career up to the Secret Domain Council. After the German War in 1866 he became President of the Finance College and a member of the Hessian State Council . In 1866, when the Duchy of Nassau passed to Prussia, he was responsible for negotiating the severance payment for Prince Nikolaus von Nassau . From 1867 to 1874 he was the asset manager of the Nassau duke. Later he made a profit as chairman of the Nassau Beautification Association and the Nassau Agricultural and Forestry Association as well as the Hunting Protection and Horticulture Association .
