Wilkin Graf von Bredow came from the Görne line of his middle-market aristocratic family, whose lineage begins with the knight (miles) Arnoldus de Bredow on Bredow in Havelland , who first appeared in documents in 1251. His parents were the Kgl. prussia. Appellate judge Otto Graf von Bredow (1824-1894), Herr auf Goerne, Dicke, Lochow I, Damm and Wutzetz , and Adele Elise von Gansauge (1830-1885).

Life and career

Wilkin von Bredow initially served as an officer candidate in the Prussian army, in which he rose to the rank of major. After the death of his father, he inherited his five estates, which were in the then Westhavelland and Ruppin (Damm and Wutzetz) districts. He initially took on political duties and became the knighthood director of the Central Markian knighthood. This activity then also formed the basis for national political activities: He was elected a member of the Prussian House of Representatives. As a Protestant nobleman, he was also an honorary knight of the Order of St. John . Since October 7, 1886 he was married to Margareta von Vangerow (1865–1945). The marriage produced a daughter and two sons.

He is buried in the cemetery in Görne.
