geography

Kleßen-Görne located about 70 km northwest of the Berlin city limits and about 15 km northeast of Rathenow , south of the lowlands of Rhinluches , between the up to 77 meters above  mean sea level high ridge Ländchen Friesack and the south located Great Havelländisches main channel . The Kleßener See with a small campsite is located near the district of Kleßen , and the Görner See near Görne in the nature reserve of the same name.

history

Kleßen was mentioned as Cletzin as early as 1280 . From 1352 to 1872 the place belonged to the Counts of Bredow. Görne was mentioned in 1353 as See to Gorne . The place got its current name in 1669.

Kleßen and Görne belonged to the Westhavelland district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Rathenow district in the GDR district of Potsdam from 1952 . Since 1993, the places have been in the Havelland district in Brandenburg.

The municipality of Kleßen-Görne emerged on December 31, 2002 from the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent municipalities of Görne and Kleßen and at that time had 456 inhabitants.

Attractions

  • Kleßen Manor, built in 1723 by the von Bredow family in baroque style, rebuilt in a classicist style in 1858 . The manor house has been restored since the mid-1990s. There is a water tower on the associated farm yard. The "Märkische Gutsgarten" was newly laid out in 1999 and can be visited.

  • Gutshaus Görne, built in 1786 by Christoph Philipp Gerhard von Bredow .

In July 2018, Kleßen-Görne received national media attention. Approx. 50 journalists had come to report on the opening of two radio masts for better network coverage by the Minister for Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Andreas Scheuer (CSU). In advance, the place had made headlines even as far as Japan with its poor network coverage. Until then, the residents often had to drive for kilometers or climb ladders in order to be able to make phone calls, as the village is located in a depression.
