history

The current districts of the municipality belonged to the Jerichow II district in the Prussian province of Saxony since 1817 and to the Rathenow district in the GDR district of Potsdam from 1952 . They have been in the Havelland district in Brandenburg since 1993.

In the course of the formation of offices in Brandenburg in 1992, the following eight municipalities joined together to form an administrative association called Amt Milow: Großwudicke, Milow, Nitzahn, Vieritz, Jerchel, Möthlitz, Bützer and Zollchow. On July 3, 1992, the Minister of the Interior gave his approval for the establishment of the Milow Office, which was established on July 16, 1992. The seat of the official administration was the municipality of Milow. Günter Geib became the first official director.

The municipality of Milower Land was created in the run-up to the planned Brandenburg municipal area reform in 2003 through the voluntary merger of the previously independent municipalities of Bützer, Großwudicke, Jerchel, Milow, Möthlitz, Vieritz and Zollchow and the incorporation of Nitzahn. In a notice dated April 30, 2002, the Ministry of the Interior approved the formation of a new parish, Milower Land. The merger only became legally effective on October 26, 2003. The municipality of Milower Land corresponds to the Milow Office, which existed from 1992 to 2003. Districts were also Schmetzdorf, which was a district of Zollchow, and Bahnitz, which was a district of Möthlitz.
