The village was first mentioned as "Banthyz" in a document from the Diocese of Brandenburg dated April 4, 1225. From this it can be deduced that there was already a church building in the village at this time . The von Plotho family had owned the village since the 15th century at the latest. Later the village apparently fell temporarily desolate .

Other owners of Bahnitz in the following time were brothers from the von Arnim family and members of the von der Recke family . The church became a branch church of the Nitzahn village church . The manor came into the possession of the lords of the Kützkow estate .

20th and 21st centuries

On July 1, 1950, Bahnitz was part of the Möthlitz community , which was incorporated into the Milower Land community in 2004 .
