Heinrich Ludwig von Hünecken (born October 7, 1767 in Möthlitz , † May 30, 1829 ) was a German officer and civil servant.

Life

Heinrich Ludwig von Hünecken was born as the youngest son of Freiherr Christoph Friedrich Ludwig von Hünecken, heir to Dedeleben , Möthlitz, Vehlen and Nizane. The family lived in the Möthlitz manor . His parents died in the 1790s, and his brother Freiherr Christoph Friedrich von Hünecken (* unknown; † September 23, 1836) continued to run his father's property.

He attended the cathedral grammar school in Halberstadt for several years and in 1782 came to the body regiment of the heavy cavalry in Schönebeck . In 1790 he took part in the campaign to Silesia as a lieutenant , and in the following years he also took part in the campaigns on the Rhine and the Dutch rivers . In the meantime he had been promoted to Rittmeister .

After the lost battle near Jena and Auerstedt in 1806, during which he stayed in Schönebeck to collect, train and follow up the replacement team, the French were as quick as the news in Schönebeck. He then captured the first French he saw, but then brought his soldiers, horses and valuables to safety. First he fled to Magdeburg , because of the unclear conditions there he fled further to Mecklenburg and met Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher on the way , who was retreating to Lübeck . The latter advised him to flee to Swedish Pomerania via the Peene at Anklam . This attempt failed, however, because too many French were already there. He and his soldiers were plundered and, on their word of honor, not to fight the French any more, they were released back home.

After he arrived in Dedeleben, he assumed the office of mayor and soon after became a canton mayor or district bailiff . Due to his strict management, he was able to bring the municipal assets back to a good level in the communities entrusted to him.

During a battle on May 30, 1813 near Halberstadt, he was captured by soldiers of the Russian general Alexander Tschernyschow during a reconnaissance ride near Sargstedt in the mountains of the Huy , because they believed him to be a spy. Four Prussian officers, who were in the wake of the Russian general, succeeded in refuting the suspicion so that he was released again.

After the battle of Leipzig from October 16 to 19, 1813, the left bank of the Elbe was cleared by the French, and an administrator who was familiar with military affairs and conditions was now sought. As a result, District Administrator Heinrich Ludwig von Hünecken was appointed District Administrator on February 3, 1814 .

In September 1814 he was granted his wish to return to Dedeleben, where he became district administrator of the Osterwieck district .

In 1816 there was a new district division and he was in front of the Oschersleben district from July 1, 1816 ; he held this office until his death.
