The Osterwieck district was from July 1, 1816 to December 31, 1824 a district in the administrative district of Magdeburg in the Prussian province of Saxony . The district seat was in Osterwieck . The former district area is now part of the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The Osterwieck district was formed on July 1, 1816. After a comparison between Prussia and Count Henrich zu Stolberg-Wernigerode in 1823, the area of ​​the County of Wernigerode separated as an independent district of Wernigerode on January 1, 1825 from the Osterwieck district. From the rest of the district, together with the city of Halberstadt and the communities of Aspenstedt , Athenstedt , Dardesheim , Heudeber , Mahndorf , Mulmke , Rohrsheim , Ströbeck and Zilly of the district of Oschersleben, the new district of Halberstadt was formed.
