Aspenstedt is a district of the city of Halberstadt in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The place is on the federal highway 79 between Halberstadt and Dardesheim south of the Huy .

history

The first documentary mention was in 1084. Aspenstedt belonged to the Halberstadt diocese , which was converted into a principality in 1648. The place was directly subordinate to the office of Zilly -Mulmke and came in 1815 to the administrative district of Magdeburg of the Prussian province of Saxony .

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent municipality of Aspenstedt was incorporated into the city of Halberstadt together with the municipalities of Athenstedt , Langenstein , Sargstedt and Schachdorf Ströbeck .

The coat of arms was approved by the district on March 24, 2009.

Blazon : "A green aspen with catkins growing in silver from a green three-mountain, accompanied by two soaring red kites below the treetop, the three-mountain is covered with a silver fountain."

The colors of the district are green - white.

The tree in the coat of arms represents a stylized aspen and refers to an earlier official seal. The kites point to the frequent occurrence of these birds of prey. The source on the Dreiberg symbolizes the origin of the Assebach, which rises here.

The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch .
