Sargstedt is a district of the city of Halberstadt in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

Geographical location

The place is in the northern Harz foreland , northwest of Halberstadt, on the south side of the Huys .

history

Sargstedt belonged to the Diocese of Halberstadt until 1648 and then came to the Principality of Halberstadt. The place was directly subordinate to the Majoreiamt Halberstadt and in 1815 came to the administrative district Magdeburg of the Prussian province of Saxony .

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent municipality of Sargstedt was incorporated into the city of Halberstadt together with the municipalities of Athenstedt , Langenstein , Aspenstedt and Schachdorf Ströbeck .

coat of arms

Blazon : "Split silver and red with an uprooted chestnut in confused colors."

On the occasion of the 900th anniversary celebration in 1984, Sargstedt created a coat of arms that, with its opulent accessories, could not be approved. Based on the symbolism of an uprooted chestnut in mistaken tinctures, the municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch designed the municipal coat of arms in 1997. The chestnut symbolizes a mighty tree that once stood in the village center; the colors refer to the diocese of Halberstadt.

The colors of the community are: red and white.
