Stechow-Ferchesar is a municipality in the Brandenburg district of Havelland . It belongs to the office of Nennhausen with its seat in Nennhausen .
geography
Stechow-Ferchesar is located approx. 10 km northeast of Rathenow , approx. 62 km west of Berlin-Spandau and south of the Great Havelland main canal . The district of Ferchesar is located on the Havelsee Hohennauener-Ferchesarer See , where the Ferchesar marina is located. The region around Ferchesar-Stechow is very rich in forests and lakes. The district of Ferchesar itself is at the end of the Hohennauener-Ferchesarer See. Other lakes in the immediate vicinity include the Fennsee , Trintsee and Lochower See .

history
The district Ferchesar was first mentioned in 1438 and the district Stechow in 1375. The name of Ferchesar is derived from Ferch am See . It was the seat of the Countess von Bredow. Ferchsar has been a resort since the beginning of the 19th century and was called the pearl of the Havelland .
Stechow and Ferchesar belonged to the Westhavelland district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Rathenow district in the GDR district of Potsdam from 1952 . Since 1993, the places have been in the Havelland district in Brandenburg. The current community was created on December 31, 2002 from the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent communities Ferchesar and Stechow.

The B 188 between Rathenow and Friesack and the state road L 982 to Nennhausen lead through the district of Stechow .
The nearest train station is Nennhausen on the Berlin – Lehrte railway line . It is served by the RE 4 regional express ( Rathenow - Berlin - Jüterbog ). From April 2, 1900 to 1945, the small train from Rathenow to Paulinenaue , the " Stille Pauline ", ran through the district of Stechow and had a stop here.
The Stechow-Ferchesar airfield , a special Category III landing field, is located in the municipality .
