politics

In 2011, Zicht ran unsuccessfully in the state elections in Bremen . In the next general election in 2015 he was elected to their member and acted there as domestic and drug policy spokesman for his parliamentary group. In June 2016, the public prosecutor's office applied for his immunity to be lifted as part of an investigation into violating the Narcotics Act. After the board of the citizenship had granted this request, Zicht resigned from his functions as spokesman. The proceedings were discontinued a short time later due to a lack of suspicion. In September of the same year, Zicht's immunity was lifted again and his home was ransacked. He was accused of having ordered synthetic drugs over the so-called Darknet in 20 cases in 2013 and 2014 . Zicht then admitted that he had acquired narcotics in his time before he became a member of the parliament and resigned from his seat.

Electoral law expert

Already during his studies Zicht dealt with the right to vote . In 1998 he filed a constitutional complaint with the Federal Constitutional Court for the first time with regard to the regulation of the overhang seats in the federal election law , but this was rejected.

In December 2011, as one of the responsible complainants, he again lodged a constitutional complaint. On July 25, 2012, the Federal Constitutional Court declared the previous right to vote unconstitutional and void.

With his draft of a new electoral law for Bremen in 2006, he initiated the first successful referendum in Bremen. The current Bremen suffrage was significantly influenced by him. He was also involved in the reforms of the electoral law in Hamburg .
