Will & Will

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Will & Will (Original: Will Grayson, Will Grayson ) is a youth novel by John Green and David Levithan , which was published in April 2010 by Dutton Juvenile. The German translation by Bernadette Ott was published by cbt Verlag in March 2012. The narrative of the book is split between two characters, both named Will Grayson, with Green writing all the chapters for one Will and Levithan the chapters for the other.

Creation of the novel

The authors decided beforehand to divide the book evenly. John Green wrote all chapters with odd numbering (uppercase Will Grayson ) while David Levithan wrote all chapters with even numbering ( lowercase will grayson ). This also applied to the names of the main characters; Levithan chose the first name and Green the last name. The only plot point they decided together was the fact that the two people would meet at some point in the novel and that this meeting would have a tremendous impact on both of their lives. After that decision, they both wrote the first three chapters of their respective halves and then shared them. After that, they knew right away that it would work, Levithan said.

action

The novel follows the story of two boys, both named Will Grayson. The first Will Grayson wants to live his life without being noticed. This is made difficult by his best friend, Tiny Cooper, as he is and is not described as "the greatest person in the world who is very, very gay" and "the gayest person in the world who is very, very tall." is just inconspicuous. Tiny is also working on an autobiographical musical, which draws further attention to himself and his friends. Tiny wants First Will to help him produce the musical. This is difficult for him because he is very angry with Tiny.

The other Will Grayson or wants grayson sees nothing good in his life other than his internet relationship with someone who calls himself Isaac. In his plan to meet Isaac in real life, he finds out that Isaac was invented by a girl named Maura. Maura was Will's school friend. What follows then brings the two Wills together and changes their lives in ways they could never have imagined. They discover new sides of themselves and learn who they are.
