Will Czech

Will Czech , also Willi Czech (born August 30, 1891 in Düsseldorf ; † January 18, 1975 there ), was a German landscape , genre , portrait and still life painter of the Düsseldorf School , draftsman and restorer .

Life

Czech first attended the Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts in 1907 before moving to the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1915 , where he studied under Eugen Dücker and August Deusser until 1918 . In the 1920s he was a member of the art movements Das Junge Rheinland and Rheinische Sezession . In 1937 two of his works were among the objects that the Reich Chamber of Culture removed from the Düsseldorf Art Museum as part of the “ Degenerate Art ” campaign . At the same time, Czech was allowed to continue exhibiting during the Nazi era . From 1956 to 1975 he was a member of the Malkasten artists' association . He traveled to Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Hungary, France and Africa.
