Willem van Haren
Willem van Haren (born February 21, 1710 in Leeuwarden , † July 4, 1768 in Sint-Oedenrode , Noord-Brabant ) was a Dutch poet and statesman.
Willem van Haren, born as the offspring of the noble Frisian family of the Van Haren , brother of Onno Zwier van Haren , held high state offices. He was Grietman von Het Bildt , envoy in Brussels and Frisian deputy at the meeting of the Dutch States General . His illegitimate daughter Henriette Amalia de Nerha was the lover of the French aristocrat, statesman and writer Mirabeau .
As a poet he has made himself known through individual lyrical poems (including Het Menschelijk leven , 1760, a review of his life, full of strong philosophical spirit) and an epic poem: Gevallen van Friso (Amsterdam. 1741), in which he describes the fate of the fabulous the first king of the Frisians. His collected poems were published in Utrecht .
