Willi Gehring

Willi Gehring (born May 23, 1949 ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

In 1965 Gehring joined the Junge Union. Willi Gehring has been a member of the CDU since 1968. He has also been a member of the social committees of the CDU - CDA - Christian Democratic Workerships, since 1969. From 1969 to 1975 Gehring was State Social Secretary of the CDA / CDU Saarland. Since 1972 - 1982 regional chairman of the young workforce of CDA Saarland. From 1983 to 1989 Deputy CDA regional chairman and from 1990 to 2000 regional chairman of the Christian-Democratic Workers' Union Saarland. From 1990 to 2000 he was also a member of the CDA federal board. In Friedrichsthal , Gehring was CDU city association chairman from 1984 to 2004, and was a member of the Friedrichsthal city council for 6 years. From 1985 to 2004 Willi Gehring was elected four times as a member of the Saarland state parliament. Willi Gehring has been a member of the German Trade Union Federation (DGB) since 1980 and during this period he belonged to the individual trade unions HBV, ÖTV / Verdi, and to this day the IGBCE. As part of his membership, he was for many years a DGB district board member and local cartel chairman of the DGB city association Friedrichsthal.

In 1984 Gehring joined the state board of the THW -Helfervereinigung, in the state board of the THW-Landeshelfervereinigung he was first secretary, then vice-president and from 2000 - 2011 president of the THW-state aid association Saarland.

Willi Gehring has been organizing aid campaigns for poor people in Romania since 1988. In March 1989 and during the Romanian Revolution - December 1989 - Gehring was in Romania with aid transports. In 1990 Gehring became chairman of the German-Romanian Friendship Circle Saarland. Because of his actions for poor people in Romania , the "Aurel Vlaicu" University in Arad made him an honorary senator on April 17, 2000. He is also an honorary citizen of the Romanian city of Lipova in Arad County (since April 11, 1995), Ghioroc Municipality in Arad County (since December 20, 1999) and Zăbrani Municipality in Arad County (since December 16, 2002). Since December 1989 Gehring has been the "guest of honor for life" of the "teatrul liric Constanța" - lyric theater of the city of Constanța / Romania. In 1991 Willi Gehring was named an "honorary baron" by the Roma families in the village of Chesint.

Since October 2011, Willi Gehring has been an honorary member of the parent self-help association Integra (Arad) - help for disabled children. Gehring has been a member of the Cercul de prietenie roman-germano din zona Lipova (Romanian-German Friendship Circle Region Lipova / Romania) since 1994 and has been President of the Romanian-German Friendship Circle in Lipova, Romania since May 3, 2011.

In 2009 Gehring was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit for his services .
